The Co-conveners and Steering Committee will create OneAthens as the successor
organization that will provide leadership from the community to ensure the implementation
of these initiatives and other remaining PPA recommendations.
This initiative will help reduce poverty because it will provide an organization to oversee the accountability and
implementation of the PPA recommendations.
Create the OneAthens Foundation by January 2008 to help implement the OneAthens vision.
The focus of this initiative is to provide Athenians with a vehicle to help support the vision of OneAthens. This initiative will reduce poverty by providing resources and strategic giving to fill funding gaps and seed new models.
Progress Report
The OneAthens Community Foundation has been launched. The OneAthens Community Foundation is a public charity that brings people together who care deeply about the Athens area and seek to improve its quality of life and the economic well-being of all people in the greater Athens area through their gifts and involvement. The Foundation is applying for tax exempt status and the North Georgia Community Foundation is providing necessary start up services.
